Milk Jug Butterflies & Window Flowers

Thanks again to Filth Wizardry, we got another great idea for a way to recycle materials and make something awesome. The author of the blog did a guest post on another blog and gave fabulously detailed instructions on how make butterflies out of milk jug plastic. They are a big hit around this house!

We also decided it was time to make new window flower "stained glass" panels. The old ones that we'd made were dead and brown, and while the patterns still looked cool, we decided to bring in some of the new color from outside. Our windows, with their little squares, are fabulous for this sort of thing. All you need is contact paper and flowers. Arrange the flowers and leaves (the flatter the better) on the sticky side of the contact paper, press it up against the glass, and smooth out. Sometime when we have more patience we will try pressing the petals and leaves to dry them out before putting them up, so that the color lasts longer.
