This year for her birthday, A really wanted to go to Build a Bear. We told her that we could either have a big party with a lot of her friends at home OR go as a family to Build a Bear. She chose Build a Bear. So on her birthday we went out to eat as a family at a
That next weekend, we decided to throw A a surprise b-day party brunch for family and friends. We were supposed to have quite a crew, but Winter Storm Electra made a surprise visit preventing a lot of people from coming. But we were thrilled to have Mumika and Poppa John, Mary and Joanne, and the Bean Family. A had been told that we were having an early Solstice party and she had dressed for the occasion and had even created a pin the ray on the Sun game. I kept trying to get her to go downstairs with M & PJ to play a game so I could decorate and we could surprise her, but she really wanted to be the one to decorate. So the guests arrived and A welcomed them to the party (that she thought was a Solstice party, but was actually her surprise party) and then we decided that we would let her in on the surprise with the cake. And surprised she was :) It was a wonderful morning with brunchy foods, cake, pin the ray on the Sun, and face painting.
Things A likes at 6 years old:
Singing, dancing, wearing fancy dresses, making vegetable tango soup, reading sight words, her kindergarten teacher Miss Ledoux, taking showers by herself, fairies, doing science experiments, the movie Frozen, singing all of the songs from the movie Frozen, being caring and empathic to so many people.
Things A doesn't like:
Hurting arms and legs, her little sister being mean to her, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, nights that aren't dessert nights, bullies, getting her hair brushed.
