Rainbow Flower Fairy

Addie had her dance recital a couple weeks ago.  She had been taking a creative movement dance class at a large dance studio in town and the classes culminated in a huge recital at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.  She was so excited for the recital day and the chance to FINALLY wear her beautiful dress (that had been hanging protectively in the closet for weeks because she wasn't supposed to wear it until the recital). The stage was huge and the auditorium was packed and she looked so tiny up there, but she was just buzzing with energy when I met her after the performance and she said to me that she wanted "to be up on the stage EVERY DAY!"

In the weeks before the performance she had talked incessantly about how, after the recital, she would wear the dress with her fairy wings and crown and become a REAL fairy, "Rainbow Flower Fairy" to be precise.

Well she was good to her word. She wore the dress for what seemed like forever. I think she was hoping that the magic from the recital would continue and she definitely enjoyed the extra attention she got from people when she wore it. The streak lasted for about a week and probably would still be continuing if the dress hadn't gotten so dirty and smelly that we deemed it unwearable! Over the course of the last two weeks I think she learned that she could still be beautiful even if she was not wearing the dress (thank goodness!) and that she could also still be a Fairy while wearing other clothes.
