Valentine's Day outing

The three of us had a lovely Valentine's day outing yesterday. We went to the Portland Art Museum (which I am very embarrassed to admit is the first art museum that Addie has gone to since she was a very little baby back in Delaware). After finding fruit in still life paintings, looking at the Collage exhibit (Addie loved this because she loves collaging too) and really wanting to touch everything (including the cool ram sculpture made with sea shells) we went to Flatbreads for Pizza. I had put a pull-up on Addie for this outing (just in case!) and was fully expecting to change a wet diaper after our first trip to the bathroom. But she was dry! And she used the big potty. Walking back to find Mike from the bathroom, Addie yells to Mike who is WAY across the (fortunately noisy) room: "Addie pee in potty Dad!!" After pizza, she said she need to use the potty again. We went back and this time she pooped in the big potty. (Sorry, this is probably TMI...but it's pretty exciting stuff for us!) And as you can probably predict, Addie, upon spotting Mike from across the restaurant, shouts while running: "Addie poop in potty Dad!!"

After dinner we were walking back to the parking garage and Addie said excitedly: "Look! Look! Two Addies!!" We look down at what she is pointing to and see... two Addie shadows!(from the two nearby street lamps). How thrilling! I love: 1. that my daughter notices and is able to verbalize things like this and 2. that I am able to take joy in the simple pleasures of life with her.
